About Us

In 2002, Rusty Beatty discovered the Jamul Valley and purchased the breathtaking property that the winery currently resides. He enjoyed working with the land and started a small orchard of pomegranates, tangerines, lemons, plums, oranges and apples. After raising his two boys in the Jamul area and living on the his orchard, he met Kerri Kohles Morrison and together they found the granitic soils, warm days and cool nights to be ideal for grape growing. As time passed, their hobby turned into much more, their small vineyard grew and they decided to open the winery. 

 

In the winery, we offer tastings, by the glass or bottle for your enjoyment, as well as a yummy selection of snacks, charcuterie, and pizza. Both indoor (air conditioned and heated) and outdoor seating (shade and misters) are available, making any time of year a perfect time to come in and enjoy a glass of wine, sangria, or specialty wine drink. Want a more intimate setting? We offer a private seating area on the backyard deck for up to 25. 

 

Kerri's southern Texas hospitality and Rusty's ingenuity have made Rustic Ridge a very special place. Gardens, fountains, and our warm and inviting tasting room welcome wine enthusiasts with an authentic hospitality. Our customers and members have even been known to get involved and pitch in, helping in the fields and around the grounds, creating a unique and supportive community. Also ready to welcome our guests are our beloved vineyard dogs ChaCha and Coco (husky rescue dogs).  

 

When the chores in the field feel endless, Rusty and Kerri always find time to watch the beautiful sunsets over the sky's incredible canvas of mountains, oceans, distant farms and acreages, which can all be seen from the grounds. This ritual reminds them every day of their purpose, sharing something truly special with the community. It is this view, with the help of Rusty’s quick wit, that inspired our tagline “Vines with a View.” They fully enjoy the labor of love of cultivating a business and a lifetime friendship.
